made 365 sketches so Pharrell wouldn't have to make one
He Posted a Song Sketch Every Day. Then Pharrell and John Mayer Called.
Perth multi-instrumentalist Ethan French, 25, began posting a new musical sketch every day in October 2025 as his Idea a Day series on Instagram, aiming to stop himself endlessly polishing unfinished work. The challenge drew nearly 900,000 followers and attention from Pharrell, John Mayer, Justin Timberlake and SZA. His debut collection, ideas of the day - vol 1, is out now through One Day Recordings and Universal Music Australia.
