Mahershala Ali waited years for a movie India made in a desert with no slow-mo.

Marvel Canceled Blade, But India's Gory Half-Vampire Brawler Half Will Thrill Genre Fans

Marvel's long-gestating Blade reboot, which was set to star Mahershala Ali, is no longer moving forward. Indian director Samjad's Half fills the gap: twin half-vampire siblings, played by Ranjith Sajeev and Aiswarya Raj, survive a highway robbery and hunt the gang that attacked them. Fight coordinator Very Tri Yulisman staged the action in bright daylight with no slow motion, shot in desert heat that reached 56°C. The film premiered at TIFF's Midnight Madness and Fantastic Fest and screens next at Sitges while seeking U.S. distribution.
