The Jester app and the jestermemes.com website show an AI-generated meme feed. The website is public and needs no account. In the app we collect city-level location (to show local news), an anonymous ID, and your in-app preferences — never your name, precise GPS, or contacts. We don't sell your data. Ads are served by Google AdMob in the app and by Google AdSense on the website. You can request deletion at any time by emailing supportjester@gmail.com.
This Privacy Policy is issued by Jester App (independent developer) ("Jester", "we", "us", "our"), operator of the Jester mobile application, the jestermemes.com website, and their associated backend services ("Service").
For the purposes of the GDPR, UK GDPR, Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 (DPDP Act), and other applicable data protection laws, Jester is the Data Controller in respect of personal data collected through the Service.

A. Data you provide directly
B. Data we collect automatically
C. Data we do NOT collect
We do not use your personal data to make automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects on you.
We do not sell your personal data.
We share data only with:
In the app: free-tier users see advertisements served by Google AdMob. The AdMob SDK on your device may transmit to Google: device advertising identifier (IDFA/GAID), IP address, general location, app identifiers, and ad interaction signals. Jester does not pass personal data from our backend to Google for advertising.
On the website: the jestermemes.com website may display advertisements served by Google AdSense. To deliver and measure those ads, Google may set cookies and process your IP address, approximate location, and ad interaction signals under its own privacy policy (policies.google.com/privacy). We do not pass any account data to Google for website advertising.
Opt out of personalised ads:
You will still see ads as a free-tier user, but they will not be personalised.
Your data may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own (including the US and EU) by our sub-processors. For EEA/UK users, we ensure appropriate safeguards (Standard Contractual Clauses or adequacy decisions). For Indian users, transfers comply with the DPDP Act 2023.
To exercise rights: email supportjester@gmail.com with subject line "Data Rights Request". Include your registered email or anonymous user ID. We respond within 30 days; complex requests may be extended by 60 days with notice.
Complaints may be lodged with your local data protection authority (EEA/UK: national supervisory authority; India: Data Protection Board of India).
California (CCPA/CPRA): You have the right to know, delete, and opt out of "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. We do not sell personal information. Contact: supportjester@gmail.com.
EEA / UK (GDPR / UK GDPR): Full data subject rights as described in Section 9. Lodge complaints with your local supervisory authority.
India (DPDP Act 2023): Rights include access, correction, erasure, and grievance redressal. Grievance Officer: supportjester@gmail.com. We acknowledge within 48 hours and resolve within 30 days.
The Service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided data, contact supportjester@gmail.com and we will delete it promptly.
All data in transit is encrypted via TLS 1.2+. Data at rest is encrypted by our sub-processors using industry-standard algorithms. We apply the principle of least privilege to internal data access.
In the event of a personal data breach likely to result in high risk to your rights, we will notify affected users and relevant supervisory authorities within 72 hours of becoming aware, as required by law.
To report a security vulnerability, email supportjester@gmail.com before public disclosure.
The Jester app uses AsyncStorage (local device storage) for preferences, anonymous user ID, streak data, and session token, and sets no browser cookies. The Google AdMob SDK accesses the device advertising identifier for ad personalisation (free-tier app users only) — you can reset or limit this in device settings.
The jestermemes.com website uses Google Analytics to measure traffic — how many people visit, which pages they read, and roughly where they come from. Google Analytics sets first-party cookies (named _ga and similar) holding a randomly generated identifier so returning visits are not double-counted. We use this only in aggregate; we do not use it to identify you personally, and we do not link it to any Jester account. You can opt out entirely with Google's browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout, or block cookies in your browser settings.
When advertising is enabled on the website, Google AdSense may also set its own cookies to deliver and measure ads; you can control these via your browser's cookie settings and adssettings.google.com.
When we make material changes, we will provide at least 14 days' advance notice via in-app notification and, for signed-in users, email. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
