Watch the world's smallest crocodiles snatch bats in their hidden underground lair — a behavior never seen before

Researchers documented a never-before-seen hunting behavior in a hidden underground lair: the world's smallest crocodile species, dwarf crocodiles, snatching bats mid-flight in total darkness. The bats roost in the cave by the thousands, and the crocodiles have apparently been ambushing them from below, a feeding strategy scientists had never recorded. The finding, published after months of nighttime observation, suggests these reptiles exploit cave bat colonies more systematically than previously understood.
