Google fined $463M by EU privacy watchdog over location data breach
Ireland's Data Protection Commission fined Google 403 million euros ($463 million) on Monday for unlawfully processing location data under the EU's GDPR. The six-year investigation found Google mishandled Location History, Web & App Activity and the Android Location Accuracy feature between 2018 and February 2020. Google said the policies are historical and have since been updated. It is the Irish regulator's fourth-largest privacy fine, after penalties against TikTok and Meta, and three more Google investigations remain open.
