745 rhinos relocated, 89 babies born en route — turns out the moving truck was also a delivery room.

Rhino Rewild moves 745 rhinos to 19 protected areas across four countries

African Parks and Rhino Rewild relocated 745 southern white rhinos to 19 protected areas in Rwanda, the DRC, Uganda and South Africa, with 89 calves born since the moves began. The project, funded by a $35 million donation from the Wyss Foundation, has established or reinforced populations across more than 551,000 hectares. The effort follows the 2023 purchase of the world's largest privately held rhino herd from South African breeder John Hume.
