James Gunn Fires Back at 'Who Asked for a Clayface Movie' Criticism
DC Studios chief James Gunn pushed back on a Threads commenter who asked who wanted a Clayface movie, listing Casablanca, Back to the Future and The Matrix as films nobody requested either, and arguing Hollywood should not exist purely to greenlight IP the public already knows. He credited Mike Flanagan, then James Watkins and Hossein Amini, with building the film around a little-known character. Tom Rhys Harries plays Matt Hagen, a disfigured actor chasing a treatment that wrecks his grip on reality. It opens October 23.
