Michael Douglas Says Letterman Aired His Mom's Commercial and Mocked Her, So He Quit the Show for 18 Years
In his new memoir "One Helluva Ride," Michael Douglas writes that he stopped appearing on David Letterman's Late Show for 18 years after Letterman aired a commercial featuring Douglas's late mother, Diana Dill, without warning and then questioned him about it on air. Douglas, 82, says it felt like Letterman was mocking his mother and that the host had a "nasty sense of humor." Letterman sent personal apology letters, and Douglas ended the feud after his 2010 cancer diagnosis.
