Homes invaded by 'millions' of migrating bogong moths

Bogong moths have swarmed homes around Batemans Bay and Malua Bay in New South Wales. Resident Reina Hill said thousands hit her in the face when she walked outside, coating her deck, eaves and windows. About 800 sightings were logged on iNaturalist since Friday, over 200 in the last 24 hours. The peanut-sized moths migrate to the NSW Alps each summer; their numbers crashed up to 99.5 per cent in 2017 and they were listed endangered in 2021. Researchers call the rebound encouraging.
