the brain reads Braille and the dog still can't find the door
Lab-grown brains can now read Braille and guide robot dogs
Researchers at the University of Bristol grew millimeter-wide forebrain organoids on microelectrode arrays and fed them electrical patterns from a Braille-scanning sensor. A machine-learning algorithm identified the correct letter with 61% accuracy from one organoid; combining three raised it to 83% and improved noise resistance. The organoids were not taught Braille — a fixed encoding and a classifier did the work.
