Old blood cells transformed into brain stem cells that get younger as they age
Researchers at the University of Bonn in Germany directly converted red blood cell precursors from 15 donors, aged newborn to 101, into neural stem cells. Using viral delivery of transcription factors, the team observed the cells' epigenetic age decrease over 50 to 100 days. The converted cells eventually reached approximately 5 percent of their donors' chronological age, effectively becoming 60 years younger within two months.
