Block's new voice model Dessa sounds eerily human, runs on a single GPU
Jack Dorsey's Block unveiled Dessa, a full-duplex speech model that runs locally on one NVIDIA GPU and is trained entirely on human speech. The company claims it captures laughs, pauses and emotion without text in the pipeline, unlike rivals such as ElevenLabs. Blocks says Dessa could power cheaper voice agents for its business tools. Researchers posted sample conversations where the bot sounded tired and expressive.
