ASOS hacked: customers get cryptic threat instead of shipping updates

ASOS app users received a push notification titled 'ASOS HACKED' on 6 October, reading 'Dear Asos DPO and IT, we have fully compromised the Snowflake instance. Engage with us, or we will leak it,' along with a Telegram link. Around 500 customers reported site problems on Downdetector before 10am, and dozens deleted their payment details. Cyber security advisers Jake Moore (ESET) and Marijus Briedis (NordVPN) urged users not to click the notification or the Telegram link. ASOS has not commented.
