Pentagon designates Confucius Institutes a national security threat
US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced that the Pentagon designated Confucius Institutes as a national security threat. He stated that the Department of Defense dismantled 80 organizations operating at 30 universities, which he described as disguised Chinese propaganda cells. Hegseth said these groups infiltrated campuses to steal intellectual property and influence students, despite previous congressional restrictions on their activities.
