AI execs may be too out of touch to build for the general public
Marissa Mayer, former Yahoo CEO and early Google engineer, promoted her new AI app Dazzle by saying it helped her generate three bullet points about her ten-year-old daughter for a school birthday presentation, describing the girl as 'empathetic, creative, and an animal lover.' Critics like Leah Greenberg called the anecdote proof of Silicon Valley's detachment from ordinary life. Mayer later defended the app as a tool for resurfacing forgotten photos, not for understanding her child.
