John Cena says he understands why Peacemaker isn't James Gunn's main focus
John Cena told the Happy, Sad, Confused podcast he accepts why James Gunn has deprioritized Peacemaker. The character debuted in 2021's The Suicide Squad, Season 1 aired on HBO Max in 2022, and Season 2 arrived in October 2025. In between, Gunn became DC Studios co-CEO with Peter Safran and rebooted the universe via Superman and Creature Commandos; Skydance's David Ellison confirmed they keep the roles. Cena hasn't worn the helmet since Season 2 wrapped and stars in Matchbox: The Movie.
