Scientists using a remotely operated vehicle at 1,259 metres depth off Trinidad and Tobago filmed a black swallower fish (Chiasmodon niger) with a highly distended stomach, indicating it had swallowed prey up to ten times its own mass. The rare live observation captured the fish’s transparent skin and stretched abdomen.
