Transgender woman elected to Brazilian Chamber of Deputies
Brazilian voters will choose from 529 openly LGBTQ candidates in Sunday's election, including 109 transgender or travesti individuals. Incumbents Erika Hilton and Duda Salabert, the first trans women in Congress, seek re-election alongside new challengers like Mãe Kaká Garcia from Mato Grosso. The race aims to expand LGBTQ representation in the Chamber of Deputies.
