Hyderabad's Friends of Snakes Society presented a weather-based machine learning model at the First World Congress on Snakes in Kandy, Sri Lanka, held October 1–4. The model was trained on 35,234 snake rescue dispatches recorded across Telangana in 2024 and 2025, matched against hourly weather, sunlight and other conditions, to estimate the likelihood of a snake encounter in a given hour. The organisation now issues hourly forecasts for 72 locations across Hyderabad and surrounding districts, updated four times a day, so residents can take precautions and rescue teams can staff up ahead of peak demand.
