NBC and Telemundo's Clear The Shelters campaign placed 135,000 shelter dogs, cats and other pets into homes between July and September, with more than 1,000 shelters across 47 states, DC, Guam and Puerto Rico taking part. The fundraiser raised $480,000 for participating shelters. In 12 years the campaign has helped 1.5 million pets find homes and directed over $6 million to shelters. NBC Local executive vice president Meredith McGinn credited community effort and partner Hill's Pet Nutrition.
