John Oliver Dodges David Ellison-Skydance News on 'Last Week Tonight'

Skydance Corp., David Ellison's new company combining Paramount Skydance and Warner Bros. Discovery, is set to close its $111 billion merger on Oct. 6, with expectations of major layoffs and a CNN editorial shift echoing the Bari Weiss-led CBS News overhaul. John Oliver extended his Last Week Tonight contract to 2027 just before the deal finalized, but Stephen Colbert's Late Show cancellation raised doubts about his future. On Sunday, Oliver instead ran a Secret Service segment ending in a parody ad with Adam DeVine and Anders Holm, never mentioning the merger.
