Sci-Fi Thriller ‘Overstake’ Gets Generative AI Rebuild, Boarded by Cappu Films at Busan Market

Hong Kong sales outfit Cappu Films has taken worldwide rights to "Overstake," a sci-fi action thriller written and directed by Stas Mareev, and will pitch it to buyers at the Busan International Film Festival's Asian Contents & Film Market. The film shoots live action but rebuilds its environments with generative AI; Mareev says the AI lets him expand scale while keeping the performances and story intact. The cast includes Konstantin Adaev, Vika Tokareva and Oleg Chernov, and the AI work is unfinished, so Busan buyers will see a promo plus a few completed sequences. Cappu's slate also includes "Zombie Plane," starring Vanilla Ice, Sophie Monk and Chuck Norris.
