Chuck Lorre Says Working on 'Roseanne' 'Was Malice' Because Barr 'Fundamentally Hated' the Show's Writers

Chuck Lorre, who wrote on two seasons of ABC's "Roseanne," said on the "Dinner's on Me" podcast that the experience was "malice" and that Roseanne Barr "fundamentally hated" the show's writers, resenting that others authored lines she had to say. He said he endured 60- to 70-hour weeks out of fear of returning to poverty and health struggles. "Roseanne" ran from 1988 to 1997; ABC's 2018 revival was canceled the same year over a racist tweet by Barr.
