'Iron Man' cinematographer says AI could replace Marvel VFX, but not actors

Matthew Libatique, the Oscar-nominated cinematographer of 'Iron Man', spoke at the Evolution Mallorca film festival, where he received the Cinematography Icon Award. He said AI won't replace cinema but could replace Marvel's visual effects, as studios seek to curb costs. He doubts AI actors will ever replace the human personalities that make characters beloved. Libatique also criticized the homogenization of film lighting, calling much of it 'Temu David Fincher'.
