Ronaldo boards jet as Portugal strips his No. 7 and a six-month ban looms

Cristiano Ronaldo left Portugal's World Cup camp by boarding a private jet from the airport, refusing pleas from coach Fernando Jesus and the Portuguese FA president to stay. Portugal then stripped him of the No. 7 shirt before he had even announced his international retirement, and coach Jesus publicly admitted Ronaldo was disappointed at being benched. A Portuguese poll found most fans believe he no longer deserves a starting place, and a six-month ban reportedly awaits him.
