Google Japan puts 116 keys on conveyor belts because typing was too easy
Google Japan marked Keyboard Day on October 1 with its 15th experimental Gboard: a keyboard that moves the keys to your finger instead of the other way around. Four vertical conveyor belts carry 29 keys each, 116 total, and the user waits for the right key to slide underneath before tapping, freeing one hand. A high-speed mode, voice guide and cardboard keycaps are floated as future upgrades, and a misspelled word means waiting for Backspace to loop back around. It will not be sold, but the open-source design is on GitHub.
