Ethan Hawke Looks Back on Filming Dead Poets Society

Ethan Hawke gave an interview reflecting on making Dead Poets Society, the 1989 Peter Weir film in which he played shy student Todd Anderson opposite Robin Williams. Hawke described the shoot as a formative, singular experience in a young actor's life, recalling the atmosphere on set and what the role taught him. The film, written by Tom Schulman, won the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay and became a durable touchstone for its 'carpe diem' theme.
