Bronze statue of 1886 Kentucky Derby winner Ben Ali stolen from Sacramento median
A life-size bronze statue of Ben Ali, California's first Kentucky Derby winner, was stolen last week from a traffic median on Del Paso Boulevard in north Sacramento. Thieves left only a single bronze hoof behind. The statue, dedicated in 2008, stood outside the Sacramento Youth Center; police are searching for the thieves and the bronze racehorse. The Del Paso Boulevard Business Association announced the theft on Instagram.
