Karthik Subbaraj on his story for Game Changer: 'It had the elements of a Madurai gangster film'

Director Karthik Subbaraj revealed that his original story for Shankar's Game Changer centered on an IAS officer from Madurai attempting to change the system. He described the grounded narrative as having gangster elements and action, distinct from the indie style of Rajkummar Rao's Newton. Subbaraj explained that the story's dynamics shifted significantly when adapted for a big-budget production starring Ram Charan.
